Hen of the Woods 2025
Handmade paper with fine point ink
Made from scraps of everyday life pressed into handmade paper, this piece reflects the way I move through the woods — slowly, always noticing what’s tucked low to the ground. Hen of the Woods (maitake) grows in dense, layered clusters at the base of oak trees, almost like folded feathers or ruffled skirts pressed right into the roots. It’s a quiet kind of mushroom, not loud or flashy, but incredibly detailed once you stop and really look. Often returning to the same trees year after year, it feels familiar — like something you can count on finding again, each time a little deeper than the last.

Handmade Paper Print
Each piece is created on handmade paper formed from recycled and found materials collected within our small school bus studio. No two sheets are ever the same — each carries its own texture, imperfections, and subtle variations that come directly from the process of making and living on the road. These works are intentionally left unaltered to preserve the integrity of the paper and the hand-crafted nature of each piece. Each print comes framed in its original frame, with care taken to protect and preserve the work during handling and display.
